THE EIGHT GRIDS: A NEW METHOD TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ SKETCHING SKILLS IN THE SCHOOLS OF ARCHITECTURE

Sketching is one of the required courses for architecture and design students in higher education since it considered a necessary skill architects designers. However, lack visualization skills practice, were met with difficulties grasping complex concepts this course, concurrent teachers’ familiarity various methods. The aim paper to find new method that allows carry out their sketches by examining problems faced first-year undergraduate at Faculty Architecture, Design & Built Environment BAU, Lebanon. To achieve research aim, qualitative methodology used among subjects involving 120 first-level poor abilities general be key reason affects success sketching. These tested before beginning during, after year practicing. Sixty got they began studying lesson, while remaining sixty studied course without method. They then finishing where was found help grasp perspective more easily, which favorably mirrored student sketching exercise.
